The Carbon Energy Bloodwood Creek trial site is located 55km west of Dalby in southeast Qld. The coal utilized is a part of the Walloon Coal Measures within the Surat Basin, at a depth of 200m and is extremely well suited for gasification. The site has a coal resource of over 100 million tonnes of high quality coal, and this resource is approx 2,000 PJ of energy, with some 1,000 PJ being potentially recoverable utilizing UCG.
Successful demonstration of Carbon Energy's 1PJa modular design has confirmed:
- Carbon Energy as the world's first company with the capability for commercial scale, oxygen-injected UCG Syngas production
- Carbon Energy Syngas is suitable for existing, gas to chemicals, power generation and gas to liquids technologies
The Carbon Energy UCG site is showcasing the world's most advanced UCG technology with high quality, high volume gas production suited to power generation and multiple chemical synthesis products.
